On the occasion of World Heritage Week, AuroBharati, Sri Aurobindo Society, Puducherry, in collaboration with the Department of Art & Culture, Govt. of Puducherry and Sri Aurobindo Integral Education Centre, Kalupadaghata, Odisha, organized an interactive session on ‘Cultural Heritage & Creativity’ at Sri Aurobindo Society, Puducherry on 23rd November, 2023.
Dr. Kishor Kumar Tripathy, Member Secretary, AuroBharati, Sri Aurobindo Soociety, Puducherry welcomed the faculty members and students of Sri Aurobindo Integral Education Centre and briefed about the aims and objectives of Sri Aurobindo Society. He emphasized on the importance of World Heritage Week, which is celebrated worldwide from 19-25 November to create awareness among the people for protection and preservation of rich cultural heritage.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Sanjay Kumar Mohapatra, Principal of Sri Aurobindo Integral Education Centre, Kalupadaghata mentioned about the message of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother for the preservation of heritage and culture. He also emphasized on the aspects of integral education and its role in education for development and sustainability.
The program was continued with an in-depth interactive session by Dr Tripathy with the students on Cultural heritage and Creativity, which is the central philosophy of Indian culture. He discussed about the principles of Indian Culture in the light of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother and said that Cultural heritage refers to the legacy of physical artefacts and intangible attributes of a group or society that are inherited from past generations.
He informed that creativity involves generating original ideas, solutions, or expressions. It is a cognitive process that encompasses imagination, innovation, and divergent thinking across various domains. He stressed about the overall development including physical, vital, mental, psychical and spiritual. On this occasion, he briefed about the projects initiated by Sri Aurobindo Society, including Traditional Games, Indian Knowledge System and Cultural heritage and community culture.
He concluded with the opinion that all these aspects contribute significantly to an individual’s overall development and well-being, each playing a unique and crucial role in shaping one’s life experiences and capabilities.
